Our organization has worked extremely hard over the years to deliver experiences that celebrate and center the voices of neurodivergent people. As a 100% volunteer-powered organization, we are grateful to every person who has supported or continues to support this important work.
Our Story
The founders of Let's Talk LD believe that 'grassroots' community-building is THE core value that drives our work. As a family-run organization, the work that we do is very personal. The work we do is inspired and strengthened by our family's journey navigating the complexities of the special education system, from "Child Find" to Transition Planning. Now young adults that have successfully 'launched', our children's special education journey offered many lessons and teachable moments that have been codified in our advocacy and activism. Everything, from how we put our community first, to how we develop our programs, to how we organize... it all starts with community-building!
Let's Talk LD places families at the center of all that we do. It is our hope that, through our work, caregivers and allies will feel empowered to lead and assume a significant role in improving the lives of neurodivergent children who have been identified as individuals with specific learning, social-communication, and/or attentional challenges. By sharing concerns, identifying problems, and deepening our knowledge and expertise about how best to address the needs of neurodivergent youth and young adults, the hope is that an authentic Community of Practice will evolve that will be self-sustaining and committed to closing equity, opportunity, and achievement gaps faced by neurodivergent individuals in the areas of education, employment, and civic engagement.
